Maxima has been engaged to recruit a Research and Development Technician for a contemporary furniture manufacturing company based in the Western suburbs.
About the Role
This is a permanent position, responsible for the production implementation of all new products. Apart from helping to create new products, you will be also involved in refining existing products, technologies, and processes.
Duties include:
- Develop a brief of customer requirements.
- Researching of materials and production processes.
- Designing CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
- Designing and building jigs and fixtures
- Measuring and testing of prototypes
- Welding, Particularly MIG welding
- Creating, testing and maintaining robot welding programs
- Adjusting jigs and fixtures to implement production processes.
- Assist with factory engineering maintenance.
You are a team player with an innovative mindset to suggest and explore new ideas and concepts in furniture design and production. You have high attention to detail, and stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and manufacturing technologies.
You also have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Technical Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
- Problem-Solving Skills including the ability to identify issues or areas for improvement in existing designs or manufacturing processes and develop solutions.
- Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments, test results, and design iterations.
- Hands on experience MIG welding essential.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety, especially in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with designers, engineers, and production personnel.
- Knowledge of Quality Control and assurance processes
- Basic project management skills and execute experience in building prototypes of furniture designs for testing and evaluation.
