This is a permanent, full time position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Bandyup Women’s Prison is a maximum-security prison for women in the state, being an Assessment and Program Prison with a small Remand population, as well as providing complex mental health services in the metropolitan area. The prison recognises the unique needs of women in custody, such as their poor health, poor family contact, substance misuses, and histories of abuse, low levels of education and employment and their social dislocation. As a result, Bandyup provides a supportive custodial environment which is responsive to these complex needs.

The Recreation Instructor coordinates and delivers recreational activities including group sport, individual fitness and passive activities to support prison operations. The position provides on the job instruction, accredited training and supervision to prisoners who work in this area. The position holds a supervisory role over other staff in this area.

ELIGIBILITY

Certificate II or III in Sport and Recreation and/or

Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation

Subsequent Vacancies
