About your new team
As the population of Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA) continues to expand, they present a growing threat to public health, environmental integrity, and the esteemed reputation of the City of Gold Coast as a desirable place to live.
Collaborating with both State and Federal agencies, our newly established team is dedicated to conducting surveillance and implementing suppression measures against Fire Ants across the Gold Coast, in alignment with our mission to safeguard public health, protect the environment, and preserve the Gold Coast's reputation as a vibrant and liveable city.
About your new role
This newly created leadership role will be the driving force to the City’s response to invasive Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA). Responsibilities include coordinating RIFA policy, planning, and programs, as well as engaging with internal and external stakeholders for consultation. We are looking for someone to join our leadership team who is passionate about mentoring others, as you will be supported by a team of twelve team members.

What you bring to your new role
You are an individual enthusiastic about mentoring, capable of guiding a team to achieve success.
Additionally, to be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- Demonstrated leadership experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Abilityto work autonomously and take ownership of tasks and processes
- Strong initiative and proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Experience and understanding of the Biosecurity Act 2014 will be beneficial
- Experience with budget planning and program development will be beneficial
