  • Senior financial counsellor: $109,625.40 - $130,112.74 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. This is a permanent, full time or part time role.
  • Financial counsellor: $95,825.30 - $116,879.41 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. This role is a contract from March 2024 – June 2025, full time or part time.
Our Financial Abuse Service is an innovative and dynamic statewide practice that assists individuals experiencing Financial Abuse in intimate partner relationships to recover and thrive, and drives systemic change through test cases, advocacy and law reform.
Our specialist, cross-jurisdictional, and integrated approach provides holistic legal and non-legal support to clients, increasing their safety and wellbeing and leading to financial independence and empowerment.
about the role
The senior financial counsellor will supervise and mentor other Financial Counsellors and work collaboratively with lawyers and social workers to assist clients from across New South Wales.
This role has ongoing opportunities to contribute to the development of systemic advocacy, policy and law reform to both address the causes of financial and economic abuse and improve outcomes for victim survivors.
The junior financial counsellor and senior financial counsellor will deliver trauma informed financial counselling services including assessing safety, advocacy and negotiation, provision of information and options, budgeting, capacity building and empowerment, as well as undertake complex casework to resolve Financial Abuse issues relating to consumer credit, banking, telecommunications, utilities, fines, vehicle registration and other debts.
