About the role
The Reform Strategy team provide regular internal reporting and research to assist the Reform Delivery and Insights team. They coordinate and lead pieces of research and analysis on AEMO’s reform priorities such as future wholesale market arrangements and international market design trends. This team contributes towards AEMO meeting its corporate plan goals relating to Navigating the Energy Future.

The Reform Strategy Senior Analyst will contribute towards the delivery of team responsibilities which provide research and analysis across a range of energy sector reform and policy matters. This role will carry out and improve internal processes to report and track progress across a range of reform development topics.

These will include leading projects by conducting analysis and establishing AEMO positions on areas of wholesale, retail market reform. Included will be outstanding analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to prepare submissions and presentations.

What you will be doing

  • Assist in the management and execution of regular reporting, process tracking, briefing and research tasks
  • Self-initiate and conduct research and analysis on a range of energy sector reform topics
  • Present at internal workshops to gather information and develop internal positions on reform topics
  • A driven and self-confident approach to building internal relationships and seeing tasks through to completion.

What you will bring to the role

  • Undergraduate qualifications in arts, economics, science or engineering or a related discipline - Postgraduate qualifications (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Proven experience in a large organisation such as corporate, government or university environment in an analytical, strategic or project setting
  • Experience in the electricity industry
  • Excellent critical thinking and report writing capabilities, including effective communication of technical and regulatory analysis relating to energy reforms
  • Self-driven, with an inquisitive mindset with tenacity to solve problems and deliver outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities to build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organised with strong written and verbal communication capabilities for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience/knowledge of electricity and gas topics (either policy or regulatory)
  • General understanding of the role and functions of AEMO and the operation of the National Electricity Market including regulations and policy
