This role ensures that all refrigeration equipment operates efficiently and complies with safety standards to maintain the quality and safety of our products.Key Responsibilities:Installation and Commissioning:
- Install new refrigeration units and systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of installed equipment through testing and commissioning.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration equipment.
- Replace worn or defective parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repairs as per industry standards.
- Ensure all equipment complies with environmental and safety standards.
- Monitor the performance of refrigeration systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Provide technical support and training to other staff as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
- Be on-call for emergency maintenance as required.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repair.
- Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of necessary parts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical certification or diploma in refrigeration technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Refrigeration Mechanic, preferably in a food processing or abattoir environment.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly desirable.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Valid Refrigeration Mechanic license.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants (if applicable).
- Forklift License (desirable)
- Successful applicant will be required to undergo Q Fever vaccination.
