JOB DESCRIPTION
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To ensure the efficient use of company capital as it pertains to fleet. Achieved through ensuring the maximum utilisation of assets from a group point of view. Ensuring lowest lifecycle cost of operating assets by rotating equipment through high and low usage cycles and identifying trends that are leading to higher ownership costs.
This must be done in line with ensuring the focus areas and activities of the business are holistically carried out in line with the Group ‘One Toll’ strategy. Furthermore, the values and the Toll single strategy must be enabled through ensuring a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence is in place
.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for;
Conducting regular and formal engagement sessions with customer sites ensuring action items are documented.
Working collaboratively with key Toll businesses in order to identify and execute specific customer opportunities, strategies, cost reduction and performance enhancement initiatives
Working with the sites to improve utilisation of their fleet, including – transfers or sharing of fleet where underutilised
Troubleshooting key issues contributing to outstanding service tasks for site fleet – including supplier contact, workshop liaison or escalation.
Reviewing fleet cost reports (Maintenance and fuel $/km etc) with maintenance teams to understand any increases in costs relative to standard/ previous, critically review reasons with Business and workshop.
Approving R&M spend up to $5K (or as per authority matrix) and review with supplier/escalate if required.
Recommend for disposal or rotation any equipment approaching end of useful life within 12 months as part of capital planning
Support day to day operations including coordinating equipment rental allocations, transfers and disposals
Reviewing weekly outstanding disposal lists and actioning with branches as required.
Reviewing the ongoing use of rental equipment against preferred suppliers and rates, identifying non- compliance and opportunities for cost reduction
Inspect condition of fleet and raise with site and workshops where fleet standards need to be lifted
Educate business units on fleet related processes and information
Work with Business units to ensure the smooth transition of new vehicles into the business and retired vehicles out.
Follow up requests in a prompt and timely manner.
Building a good working relationship with all suppliers, in order to resolve site queries.
Capture and quality all initiatives in line with budget expectations
PRE-REQUISITES:
In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:
Knowledge/Experience
Fleet management role in a large fleet environment for 5yrs +
Supplier and customer relationship management experience
Technical/Professional Skills Required
Good mechanical knowledge of road fleet including Primemovers, rigid trucks and trailers
Intermediate Microsoft office skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communications skills
HR driver’s license
