The Opportunity
Jetstar currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join our Flying Operations team as a Regional Flying Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager Flying Operations – Australia, you will be responsible for people leadership, day to day operations and driving commercial performance of an agreed region of line pilots. This role will be responsible for Flying Operations in Western Australia and South Australia.
The core responsibilities of this role are;
- Collaboration with the extended flying operations leadership team and the relevant port leadership teams, building productive relationships.
- Advise the Senior Manager Flying Operations (Aust) on operational, safety and people issues in their region.
- Communicate and provide information to pilots on company policies, announcements and any other relevant matter.
- Lead bases, partner with National Operations team and support direct report(s) to achieve performance and financial targets
- Be a visible leader in bases, seek pilot feedback and develop opportunities to drive engagement and regional culture
- Develop and implement processes and initiatives policies for the continuous improvement of base health metrics. This includes, but is not limited to, OTP, WHS compliance and pilot welfare and engagement.
- Oversee the welfare and professional development of pilots in their assigned bases.
- Provide regular direction, feedback, guidance and support to pilots about their performance, conduct and development.
- Have a thorough understanding of the Jetstar Cardinal Rules and Be Safe safety beliefs.
- Comply with safety in the workplace, addressing safety hazards and participating in investigations;
- Oversight of allocated initiatives
- Previous Airbus or Boeing command experience.
- Must have an exemplary employment record in the areas of technical professionalism and standards of conduct.
- Experience in training and checking in a high-capacity airline desired.
- Previous experience in a managerial/leadership role either within or outside the Qantas Group desired
- Have demonstrated superior leadership skills.
- Be capable of building team rapport, demonstrate genuine empathy and support.
- Have a thorough understanding of company manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Be capable of working in a high-pressure environment, achieve project deadlines and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
- Be prepared to be rostered as Duty Captain.
