Our Client, a large Federal Government Department located in Darwin is seeking an experienced Regional Security Advisor to join their Protective and Cyber Security Branch for a long term 12 month contract, plus an additional 12 month extension.
The Protective and Cyber Security Branch are responsible for implementing the requirements of the Protective Security Policy Framework within the Agency. This is achieved by providing strategic, agency-wide oversight of Protective Security across the following areas:
- Security Governance
- Information Security
- Personnel Security
- Physical Security
The Regional Security Adviser (RSA) will provide Protective Security advice and support to assist the Agency to deliver on its core deliverables.
Key responsibilities of the Regional Security Advisor will include:
- Developing and maintaining protective security policies and procedures;
- Monitoring and reporting on compliance with mandatory security framework requirements;
- Preparing, monitoring and reviewing security plans and risk assessments;
- Developing the security culture through programs of security awareness and education;
- Assisting site managers and staff fulfil their security responsibilities;
- Providing protective security advice to the Agency;
- Provision of timely, accurate and appropriate protective security advice to staff and contractors.
- Contribute to the development, management and delivery of identified protective security projects.
- Contribute to responses to a wide range of operational security matters for Australiawide, and provide support to PST colleagues as necessary;
- Identification and reporting of emerging security issues/incidents/trends and provide suggested solutions where applicable
- Contribute to the development and socialising of the Agency's security awareness resources;
- Participate in the delivery of various face-to-face security awareness training sessions to staff Australia-wide;
- Conduct Site Security Reviews of offices Australia-wide;
- Liaison with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
To be deemed suitable for this position, you will idealy have:
- Demonstrated Australian Government protective security experience and/or qualifications;
- Demonstrated ability for continuous learning and innovative thinking;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Government and protective security policies and procedures or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire such knowledge;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a Protective Security Team and across different business areas to achieve a broad range of security outcomes;
- Demonstrated well-developed oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues on building security awareness through a workplace;
- Have or the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance assessment, conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
Additional information
- Hyrbid working arrangements, 3 days in office / 2 days from home;
- This role may require the occasional interstate travel, necessitating absence from home for up to several days at a time.
