The 4th floor at East Melbourne is a 31 bed, Mixed surgical ward, incorporating the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit. We specialise predominantly in plastics/reconstruction with additional breast, ENT, uro/gynae surgery and medical oncology. We pride ourselves on teamwork and are seeking a motivated registered nurse to join our friendly crew.
This permanent role is available full time or part time, working a minimum 45 hours (six shifts) per fortnight. We work closely with our team of surgeons to provide excellent postop care and place a strong emphasis on education and growing your skillset. Further education and training in plastics/reconstruction also available.
Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to);
- Post-operative patient care for a wide range of surgical patients
- Working with your buddy nurse in a team nursing model of care
- Act as a mentor, preceptor & resource for new and junior staff
- Contribute to ongoing ward improvement through quality improvement projects
- Collaborate with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient centred care

- Current postoperative surgical ward experience highly desirable
- Current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse
- Excellent communication, time management skills and critical thinking
