About The Opportunity
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a midwife to join the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Strategy (AMIHS) run within Campbelltown Hospital Maternity Services. The AMIHS offers a maternity, antenatal and postnatal (MAPs) MoC, where you will be supported by a small but dynamic team, consisting of a fulltime CMS2 and an Aboriginal health worker, delivering antenatal and postnatal care to women and babies in the MacArthur region identifying as Aboriginal
The Registered Midwife acts as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families entering the service including those from the Aboriginal population or multi-cultural groups.
As a Midwife working at Campbelltown Hospital, it is an expectation that you maintain and promote a professional standard of care, evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, SWSLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations. What You'll Be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.

Where You'll Be Working
Campbelltown Hospital, a major metropolitan hospital, and Camden Hospital, a district hospital, operate under a common executive management structure and have networked services.
Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals provide a diverse range of services including intensive care, cardiology, maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, palliative care, respiratory and stroke medicine, surgery and emergency medicine and broad aged care services. The Hospitals deliver quality health care to the residents of the three local government areas of Wollondilly, Camden and Campbelltown.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the range of factors that have influenced the health status of Aboriginal families, specifically relating to pregnancy, childbirth and Infant Health.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the provision of women centered, culturally responsive, compassionate, quality maternity care.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide community-based antenatal and postnatal Education and care.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care.
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace, including when working remotely/ not within the hospital.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P1 and P2 licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
