About the role

The Registered Midwife is responsible for the provision of woman centred; evidence-based midwifery care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Midwife will assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Birth Centre works in a Team model caring for 480 low risk pregnant women each year. The care provided by our team spans from the booking visit at 14 weeks through to postnatal care up to 14 days.

Midwives in this team are required to provide care in the home, a current and valid drivers license is essential.

A commitment to working with women to achieve an intervention free birth is essential, midwives applying should be able to demonstrate their commitment to these principles at interview.

We are looking for someone who has 

  • Current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 Acceptable).
  • The ability to participate in a seven day rotating roster.

About working for SLHD

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022)

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
