What you'll be doing:
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Registered Midwife to join the dynamic team in the Outpatients Department of Womens and Children's Division, Nepean Hospital. This is a Temporary Part time position working 3 days a week until September 2024

This role will see you ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families of the service through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care. At all times you will work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.

You will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedure and maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Midwife (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skills in Midwifery including antenatal care
  3. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide women centred care
  5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  8. Current driver’s licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
