Yarrawonga Health’s 21 bed Acute Unit is supported by a range of services provided by multi-disciplinary teams of clinicians including Specialist medical staff, Registrars, Residents, Interns, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Allied Health and Support staff.
Some of the provided services include:
Urgent Care
Elective Surgery including Orthopaedics, General Surgery and Medical procedures.
General Medicine
Gastroenterology
Sub-Acute services including Rehabilitation Medicine
Obstetrics
Community/District Nursing
Gerontology
Who we are looking for
The Registered Nurse is a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, and uses contemporary standards and evidence to underpin practice. Being part of a multidisciplinary team, staff members will provide high quality nursing care for all patients/residents. This position will provide a high quality and effective service of assessment, support, advice and referral to enhance health, safety and well-being through involvement with patients and their carers. Yarrawonga Health clinical staff function as part of the healthcare team, at times working across disciplines, promoting good communication and working relationships between all units. YH clinical staff may at times of roster shortages be relocated to other areas within the service.
We are seeking applications from Registered Nurses with the following experience:

As a key member of our nursing team you will provide high-level clinical expertise and advice in your specialty, help mentor junior and new staff and drive overall improvements to the safety and quality of your unit.
Classification: Dependent on experience
Qualifications:
Current Nursing Registration with Australian Health Practitioners Agency (AHPRA).
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical/Management of Care:
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and patients/residents personalised care plans;
Monitor residents' vital signs, symptoms, and responses to medical interventions;
Promptly report vital consumer observations that are outside the normal range as per clinical guidelines;
Provides nursing care of individuals and groups within the Registered Nurse scope of practice;
Completes comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients/residents;
Deviations or changes in a patients’ normal condition, including vital observations which may indicate deterioration, are acted upon appropriately and promptly;
A plan of care is developed and documented in consultation with the patient/resident and; relevant others and identifies expected outcomes, including a timeframe
Maintain current knowledge of clinical practice
Acute Services Specific Activities
Provide emergency care and advice to patients presenting to the Urgent Care Centre as required.
Maintain up to date knowledge and skills, and practice within the Acute Care Setting.
Provide Quality and Safe Clinical Care for Consumers
Ensure consumers, families/representatives or carers are provided with timely information and are involved in decision making about their care planning and treatment
Accept accountability for own actions and seek guidance when a situation exceeds experience and/or knowledge
Uphold and protect consumer rights, maintain strict confidentiality and continually practice to the principles of open disclosure
Comply with best practice healthcare standards, legislation, and YH’s Clinical Governance Framework and clinical practice guidelines
Consumer feedback and complaints are responded to appropriately to ensure that issues are resolved and quality and safe clinical care is provided
Maintain accurate and current clinical records ensuring documentation meets professional and legal standards
Promptly report vital consumer observations that are outside the normal range as per clinical guidelines
Ensure an effective discharge from hospital or services that reflects the needs of the consumer.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and current medical records ensuring documentation meets professional and legal standards;
Record observations and report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team;
Recording any incidents that may occur to all residents;
Maintaining high levels of confidentiality in align with Yarrawonga Health policies and national legislations.

Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting and manual dexterity.

Key Selection Criteria:
Achievement of competencies of an Registered Nurse in accordance with criteria as prescribed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;
Demonstrate well-developed communication and interpersonal skills;
Possess knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the National Health Reform, National Standards and Aged Care Standards;
Demonstrated ability to deliver of excellent clinical care standards in accordance with Yarrawonga Health philosophy, policies and procedures;
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to work independently of others;
An ability to represent as a patient advocate;
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentially.
Desirable:
Membership of relevant professional body;
Minimum two years’ Registered Nurse experience;
Knowledge of and experience in quality improvement activities.
