Applications Close: 09 April 2024 - 11:59pmAbout the opportunityNSW Health Pathology and the Sydney Cord Blood Bank are seeking highly motivated, diligent and skilled individuals with venepuncture experience to be employed as a temporary part time Cord Blood Collections Coordinator (Registered Nurse classification) at various maternity hospitals in Sydney including Royal Hospital for Women, Prince of Wales Private Hospital, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.The short term contract is due to the defined period of the existing funding contract, which is expected to be renewed along with this position. The Sydney Cord Blood Bank has operated under rolling, renewed funding contracts for over 20 years. The goal of this recruitment is to fill the position for the long term.There are two vacancies for Cord Blood Collections at the Sydney Cord Blood Bank. One Cord Blood Collections Coordinator will be based primarily in Randwick (Royal Hospital for Women, Prince of Wales Private Hospital) and the other in Camperdown (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for Women and Babies). - Identify and assess potential donors in liaison with the obstetric teams, in accordance with Sydney Cord Blood Bank (SCBB) donor selection criteria.
- Coordinate all requirements of Cord Blood collection at affiliated collection sites including management of critical material, recruitment and consent of donors, maternal interview and donor eligibility evaluation, and performing Cord Blood and maternal Blood Collections when required
- Perform training and education in relation to collection activities for SCBB staff and obstetric teams, including accreditation of obstetric team staff
- Current registration with the National Registration Board (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated evidence of autonomy in decision making skills
- Validated competency in venepuncture, and/or demonstrated previous venepuncture experience
- Demonstrated advanced leadership skills and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team, with evidence of contribution to the development of clinical practice
- Demonstrated ability to undertake consent interview and documentation with patients in a professional and sensitive manner, taking into consideration privacy, cultural differences and the precise recording of a medical history
- Current unencumbered Australian C Class Drivers Licence
