Job description

This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing
  • Deliver quality, efficient and effective person-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team which meets the needs of the patients and their families or carers.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient.
  • Contribute to quality health care through life-long learning and professional development, research data generation, clinical supervision, mentoring, coaching and development of policy and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Participate in relevant patient safety and quality education and deliver services in accordance with the National Patient Safety and Quality Standards.
  • Complete documentation on patient care plans, progress reports, and referral practices in accordance with requirements and systematically assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on patient records.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and/or mentoring for staff, including delegation of care to ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of practice and the supervision of students on clinical placement.
  • Work within Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards of Practice and relevant codes that govern Registration.
  • Enrol and complete HETI Rural Generalist Nurse Program within first 6 months of employment.

How to apply  
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible. 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of patient care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
