Registered or Enrolled Nurse | Casual Position | Flexible Hours

The Role:

The purpose of this position is to provide support that will assist the consumer to retain/regain independence, encourage the consumer to do as much as possible for themselves, promote and monitor the consumer's overall wellbeing.

We are looking for a Registered or Enrolled Nurse who is passionate and has a genuine interest in Aged Care to join our team visiting our consumers in Harvey, Australind, Eaton and Capel.  This role involves visiting consumers in their own homes and providing services that include:

  • Administration of treatment such as eye drops, dressings and urine tests, insulin injections for diabetes, care of ulcers and pressure injuries, subject to scope of practice
  • Providing the consumer and/or their carer with information about chronic disease self-management, nutrition, continence, pressure care or falls prevention
  • Emotional support and direct supervision
  • Liaising with the consumer’s general practitioner in order to provide appropriate nursing care
  • Control and administration of medication prescribed by a medical practitioner, subject to legal restrictions on providing the medication
  • Rehabilitative support, or helping to access rehabilitative support, to meet a professionally determined therapeutic need
  • Continence management - assistance in using continence aids and appliances such as disposable pads and absorbent aids, catheter and urinary drainage appliances, and enemas
  • For new consumers, complete an initial clinical assessment and identify their clinical care needs. Final sign off by Clinical Care Manager, the in conjunction with the HCP Service Coordinator arrange the scheduling of Clinical Care for the Consumer as delegated by the Clinical Care Manager.
  • Prevent the spread of infection by following National Standard blood and substance precautions, including hand washing, covering breaks in skin, wearing disposable gloves and following sharps disposal guidelines.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Current ‘C’ Class drivers licence
  • Current HLTAID011 Provide first aid Statement of Attainment
  • Current National Police Clearance, no older than six months
  • Willing to undertake a pre-employment medical examination including a supervised drug and alcohol screening 
  • Degree in Nursing, with current AHPRA registration

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in a community based organisation
  • Current Influenza vaccination
  • Current Covid-19 Vaccination
