Who we are 

Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages over 40,000km of distribution networks, more than 4,300km of transmission pipelines and 60 petajoules of storage capacity. We employ over 470 people with an additional 1,600 contractors working on our assets.

Our low carbon vision, targets 10% renewable gas in our distribution networks by no later than 2030, with full decarbonisation of our networks by 2040 as a stretch target and by no later than 2050.

About the Opportunity 

The Regulatory Advisor will assist the Regulation and Policy team in developing and executing regulatory strategies across all AGIG assets, with a focus on those subject to full regulation. This role involves participating in Access Arrangement (AA) review processes, ongoing AA administration, and responding to regulatory policy reviews.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop robust capex and opex proposals for Access Arrangement reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and meet customer service standards.
  • Participate in the design and delivery of customer and stakeholder engagement programs, emphasising customer-centric strategies.
  • Assist with submissions to policy processes and communicate key messages to external stakeholders, addressing customer needs and concerns.
  • Engage in stakeholder management, including developing and implementing required engagement strategies to maintain customer relations.
  • Conduct regulatory/financial analysis and modelling for Access Arrangement reviews, including managing the post-tax revenue and depreciation models.
  • Assist with drafting documentation for Access Arrangement proposals.
  • Perform benchmarking analysis to understand business efficiency and the drivers of cost changes over time.
  • Develop and maintain capex and opex forecasting models, including regular scenario testing.
  • Consider and develop appropriate incentive frameworks for gas distributors, aligning performance with efficiency goals.
  • Assist with performance reporting under existing incentive schemes, identifying risks, and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Provide business modelling/analysis to inform regulatory and business strategy.
  • Assist with compliance reporting, tracking key regulatory compliance measures.

About You

  • Tertiary education in Commerce, Economics, Law, or Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory issues for the energy sector.
  • Experience working for a regulated utility, regulatory authority, or infrastructure business.
  • Effective professional communication with diverse behavioural and personality types.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to self-assess and pursue ongoing professional and personal development.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including the ability to work after hours and travel locally and within Australia if required.
