Your Opportunity
We have a wonderful new opportunity for a Regulatory Economist in our Finance Group.
Reporting to the Manager Economics and Regulation, the Regulatory Economist is responsible for economic analysis and strategic thinking that ensures Urban Utilities’ regulatory frameworks continue to remain fit for purpose against evolving regulatory practice and precedent.
Predominantly, this role will ensure Urban Utilities is undertaking sustainable, prudent and efficient expenditure and while continuing to deliver on customer and other stakeholder expectations in both the short-term and longer-term.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and support analysis of economic policy ensuring Urban Utilities operate in a manner that delivers prudent and efficient outcomes for its customers and communities from short-term into the longer-term.
- Contribute to the development of strategic business policies and develop policy frameworks for a range of economic reforms and policy consultations impacting Urban Utilities.
- Develop and assess economic data as required while conducting strategic analysis on a range of business policy options to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient decision making across the full spectrum of services provided by Urban Utilities.
- Significant interpersonal and verbal communication on regulatory oversight and potential regulatory reforms through facilitation of workshops, consultation and influence across the business and with a range of supporting technical staff.
About You:
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- A tertiary level qualification in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior economics or analytics role within a large commercial organisation with experience of operations in a regulated environment.
- Understands and can navigate the complex relationship between Urban Utilities and relevant stakeholder bodies and regulatory bodies operating in the Queensland environment.
- A background in regulated utilities is highly regarded, driving revenue and economics analysis that will safeguard and drive customer, community and shareholder value.
