Opportunities are plenty for those ready to accept the challenge.This opportunityThe successful candidate will protect and enhance the reputation of TPG Telecom by:Engaging with industry groups, regulators and other internal and external stakeholders to assess, respond to and drive policy and legislative reform to positively affect the Company's future growth and revenue.Involvement in potential policy and regulatory inquiries and investigations via direct engagement with regulatory agencies, industry associations and relevant internal and external stakeholders.Identify and recommend changes to regulation and develop a strategy for implementing change and involving the Head of Regulatory, the broader External Affairs team and relevant internal stakeholders.Working closely with the External Affairs team to support the Company's public policy and regulatory agenda in partnership with other internal stakeholders, focusing on technical telecommunications regulation and matters impacting the broader telecommunications operating environment.ResponsibilitiesSupporting internal stakeholders to:
- Understand regulatory obligations as they relate to current and proposed products and services supplied by TPG Telecom through active involvement in development of new products and services.
- Identify regulatory issues that affect day-to-day activities and identify potential process and/or regulatory change; and be compliant with regulatory obligations together with the Compliance Team.
- Act as the Company's representative with external stakeholders, including government departments, regulators, and industry groups on regulatory matters.
- Draft submissions and correspondence on behalf of the Company in support of TPG Telecom's position and business objectives.
- Keep abreast of regulation and public interest activities in other industry sectors for potential downstream regulatory or commercial impacts upon TPG Telecom.
- Keep abreast of the changing technical environment of telecommunications and opportunities to advocate for regulatory change to support the Company and its customers.
- Proactively and reactively assess the impact of legislation, regulation, including government policy proposals, regulatory change activities and public interest activity.
- Provide timely and regular updates to assist the broader TPG Telecom External Affairs agenda on emerging issues and/or successful outcomes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Australian regulatory and technical environment in telecommunications.
- Provide advice and insights to TPG Telecom staff on regulatory matters to assist future planning, product development and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with multiple external and/or internal groups, such as, but not limited to: Legal, Government Relations, Industry and Media Relations, Technology, Networks, Infrastructure, Risk and Compliance teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand complex eco systems and their interactions across technology and regulation.
- Ability to distil complex information into succinct communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to build excellent relationships, communicate, educate, and influence key external and internal stakeholders.
- Fast to adapt to the changing technological and regulatory environment.
- Highly motivated and able to operate independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgement.
- Experience working in highly technical or legislatively dense industries, such as Telco, Technology, or infrastructure, is an advantage.
- A legal and/or telecommunications technology background is an advantage.
