About the role

We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused and energetic professional to join our dynamic Remote Hands Team.

As a Remote Hands Technician, you will be responsible for assisting customers on the Data Centre floor both in person and via the telephone and communicate and escalate alerts and customer requests to systems engineers for resolution. You will be working as part of a team at a fixed location with works taking place across several shifts including day, night and weekends. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performing hardware rack & stack (Racking and de-racking of any device installed)
  • Provision layer 1 network connection and perform basic level testing to confirm first-hop connectivity for remote access
  • Running new cable and cross-connects 
  • Installing copper and fibre patch leads 
  • Track & maintain logs for hardware arrival & dispatch in/out of the data centre
  • Keep track of rack-level space & power utilization and capture data in a centralised location
  • Perform daily visible inspection and proactively inform issues to the relevant asset owners
  • Responsible for managing the customer asset management Data Base
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs within the established ticketing system for customer calls and system alerts


Skills and experience

  • Preferred to be an Australian citizen to gain baseline security clearance.
  • Environment experience managing hardware install, troubleshooting & parts replacement tasks.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a Data Centre, NOC or similar
  • Networking concepts, topology & protocols.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • ACMA license (desirable).
