About The Client

The Department is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team in the newly established role of AO5.1 Rent Connect Officer at the Emerald Office. This position plays a crucial role in supporting customers to secure and maintain private rentals, contributing to the overall goal of providing housing solutions for diverse customer groups.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be employed by IPA on a labour hire basis. There is potential for ongoing extension.

A very attractive pay rate is on offer, which will be discussed at the interview stages.

The positions hour will be Monday to Friday approximately 8.30am - 4.30 pm.

Key Daily Duties:

Rent Connect Officers work collaboratively with customers, real estate professionals, and other stakeholders to facilitate private rental arrangements. This role involves building relationships with real estate agents and lessors, providing private rental assistance, and participating in local initiatives to improve service delivery.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing and responding to customer needs, including evaluating housing requirements and the ability to sustain a tenancy in the private market.
  • Providing private rental assistance to customers, offering information, education, coaching, and advocacy.
  • Establishing and strengthening strategic networks and relationships with local real estate professionals, non-government and government service providers, temporary accommodation providers, and local government agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of the local rental market and available housing options.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring Housing Officers in the delivery of basic Rent Connect services.
  • Ensuring a workplace safety culture by applying all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety.

Skills/Competencies/Person Description:

  • The ideal candidate for this senior position may have a Real Estate background and/or experience working with complex customers. Key skills and qualifications include:
  • Administration experience
  • Housing experience (advantageous but not essential)
  • Social service experience working with vulnerable people
  • Strong computer skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively with the team
  • High-level computer skills
  • Ability to travel - Possible overnight travel to Longreach, Barcaldine, and other locations as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Driver's licence
  • Criminal History Check (Completed by the Department prior to start)
