  • Fixed term Part Time position at our Burwood East site
  • Ability to work Mondays (9am – 5:30pm); Tuesdays & Thursdays (3:36pm – 7pm) & Fridays (9am – 5:30pm).

About the role

The Rescue Coordinator will be responsible for enhancing RSPCA Victoria’s relationship with rescue groups by providing a consistent point of contact in relation to animal management processes and ensuring that we have the right information and documentation in place, to support safe and appropriate placements of animals into the care of rescue groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain positive relationships with rescue groups on behalf of RSPCA Victoria and enhance RSPCA Victoria’s ability to place more animals into the care of rescue groups.
  • Communicate effectively and carefully with all rescue groups and work to maintain and improve the reputation of RSPCA Victoria among rescue groups in Victoria.
  • Coordinate the placement and transfer of animals into the care of suitable rescue groups, including creating profiles for animals, assessing suitability of potential rescue groups, arranging a safe transfer of the animal, and providing important information such as medical and dietary needs to ensure appropriate levels of care and husbandry are provided.
  • Review and update all relevant documentation in place to support the rescue program at RSPCA Victoria, such as memorandum of understanding documents, policies, standard operating procedures, and general information documents.
  • Develop and maintain a database for all rescue memorandum of understanding documents, including expiry dates and specialisations for reference.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as needed from time to time, including but not limited to reporting.

What we are looking at from you

  • Ability to work Mondays (9am – 5:30pm); Tuesdays & Thursdays (3:36pm – 7pm) & Fridays (9am – 5:30pm).
  • Certificate II in Animal Studies (or equivalent).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and community engagement skills to ensure effective collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in animal handling and rehabilitation.
  • Applied knowledge of and proficiency in administrative and organisational systems and processes, combined with the ability to develop and implement continuous improvements.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

Highly desirable

  • Previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Previous experience working with Animal Rescue Organisations.

Recruitment Requirements

  • Position requires a current driver’s license.
  • Current tetanus vaccination.
