Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.About our Research Groups: The Cancer Aetiology and Prevention, and Gynaecological Cancer Groups focus on reducing the impact of cancer in the population. The groups have access to large national datasets which they use to identify the causes of cancer and improve diagnosis, management, and survival; as well as other projects and datasets. The laboratories are two of 13 laboratories within the Population Health Program, which provides opportunities for collaboration and professional development.Role Purpose / Responsibilities: Applications are invited for epidemiologists / biostatisticians to work on cancer projects within the Population Health Program.The following duties will apply: Design of epidemiological analyses to address study aims and development of analysis plans in conjunction with the study investigators Data checking, cleaning, management and analysis. Preparation of scientific publications and other outputs, including presentations at internal and external meetings and conferences. Critical appraisal of evidence, including conducting systematic reviews. Actively contributing to the Cancer Aetiology & Prevention Group / Gynaecological Cancers Group and the Population Health Program by attending seminars, meetings and journal clubs. About you: Masters degree (RA), PhD (RO) or PhD plus several years' experience (SRO) in epidemiology or the equivalent in public health, health services, medicine, biostatistics, data science or a related field and experience in epidemiology. Excellent data analysis skills and experience with working with health data. Demonstrated high quality coding skills in software packages such as SAS, Stata and/or R and ability to use and interpret the resulting outputs. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work. Excellent oral and written communication and intrapersonal skills with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Remuneration: Salary range will vary depending on which level an offer is made, Research Assistant - base salary between $82,369 p.a. to $95,329 p.a. Research Officer - base salary between $88,849 p.a. to $95,329 p.a. Senior Research Officer - base salary starting from $100,312 p.a.
