  • Part time (0.8), 12-month fixed term position at our Hawthorn campus
  • Academic Level A or B salary + super (dependent on skills and experience)
About the Role
The Centre for Forensic Behaviour Science at Swinburne University of Technology are looking for a Research Fellow to join their team.
The Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS) is Australasia’s leading centre for excellence in the areas of forensic mental health and forensic behavioural science research, teaching and practice development. The CFBS has entered into an agreement with Court Services Victoria (Children’s Court Clinic) to engage a postdoctoral Research Fellow to enhance the capacity of the Clinic to undertake research relevant to its operations. The Children’s Court Clinic (CCC) is an independent organisation that is operated by Court Services Victoria which conducts psychological and psychiatric assessments of children and families for the Children’s Court of Victoria.
This position will support the service delivery of the CCC through ongoing evaluation and knowledge creation.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Level A
  • Experience in conducting quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods research/evaluation under supervision, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Experience and understanding of matters that bring children to the CCC (e.g., child protection, child maltreatment, family violence, and youth offending)
  • A demonstrated capacity to complete writing tasks intended for a peer-reviewed academic audience
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with research team members and industry partners and implement communication strategies
Level B
  • Experience in designing and conducting quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods research/evaluation (including data collection, analysis, and interpretation) independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience and understanding of matters that bring children to the CCC (e.g., child protection, child maltreatment, family violence, and youth offending)
  • Working knowledge of theories and systems important to fields of child maltreatment, child protection, family violence, and youth offending.
  • A demonstrated capacity to complete advanced writing and analysis tasks with minimal supervision, including the preparation of reports and publications
  • Experience in coordinating research activities with multiple partners/stakeholders, identifying project risks and establishing risk mitigation strategies, and managing project deadlines
Qualifications
Level A
  • A masters or PhD/doctoral qualification, or working towards submission of doctoral/PhD thesis, in the areas of Psychology, Criminology, or relevant discipline
Level B
  • A PhD/doctoral qualification in Psychology, Criminology, or related discipline, in conjunction with relevant research or evaluation experience
