The Department of Computing Technologies are seeking a Research Fellow to undertake research within the ARC supported project "Intelligent Geo-Located Data Exploration".
In this role you will make original and innovative contributions to designing, developing and implementing an intelligent geo-located data exploration framework and its enabling techniques (e.g., online learning and interpretation of personal preferences and intelligent exploration of points/areas of interests) to allow the user with little domain knowledge in data and query as well as indeterminate intentions to be capable to effectively and efficiently explore the data in an interactive and interpretable way. You will also contribute to implement and evaluate a proof-of-concept system.
As part of Swinburne's Intelligent Data Analytics Lab, the Fellow will collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines, e.g., data science, machine learning and optimisation, and have access to Swinburne's supercomputers like OzSTAR (featuring 230 NVIDIA P100 GPUs) and Ngarrgu Tindebeek (featuring 88 NVIDIA A100 GPUs).
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- A strong publication record in top-tier journals and/or conferences, particularly in the areas of spatial data management, recommendation systems, machine learning, optimisation, data mining, and/or algorithm design with theoretical analysis
- Previous experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team with people from academia, governmental sectors and/or industries
- Decent knowledge and skills in spatial data management, recommendation systems, and machine learning
- Evidenced experiences in spatial data management system building and/or HCI system building
PhD in computer science or a related field focused on spatial data management, recommendation systems, machine learning, optimisation, and/or HCI.
