About the Role
As a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Melbourne's Indigenous Health Equity Unit, you will actively participate in a research program addressing public health challenges, including intergenerational trauma and Health Equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, conducting research on intergenerational trauma, publishing high-quality papers, engaging in knowledge translation activities, and demonstrating leadership while collaborating effectively with external stakeholders and adhering to occupational health and safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Evaluation of participatory action research implementation studies
  • Engaging in research on intergenerational trauma, mixed methods research, and strategies for improving Indigenous Health Equity.
  • Producing high-quality publications, contributing to research proposals, supervising junior staff, and presenting research findings at academic and non-academic forums.
  • Collaborating with external stakeholders and actively participating in community and professional activities related to Indigenous health research.

Who We Are Looking For
You excel in communication, effortlessly engaging with stakeholders in policy and research spheres. Your outstanding organisational skills shine in dynamic research environments, where you thrive on managing evolving priorities and meeting deadlines.

You will also have:

  • PhD or equivalent expertise in public health or related field.
  • Demonstrated research experience in public health and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health, including translational activities.
  • Proficiency in data collection and statistical analysis, utilising quantitative and qualitative analysis software.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders from diverse environments.
