The Research Midwife will support the development, update and evaluation of clinical education programs and resources for the national Centre for Stillbirth Excellence in research. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the implementation and pilot testing of a package of resources to improve communication between pregnant women and their healthcare professionals around stillbirth risk and timing of birth. This position is for a period of 12 months.Salary range: $95,892 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900What you'll be doingThe Research Midwife will work on a range of research activities critical to supporting the delivery of the Stillbirth CRE's clinical education programs. The Research Midwife will be responsible for updating and evaluating the Stillbirth CRE's clinical education programs for both the Safer Baby Bundle and IMPROVE projects. The Research Midwife will also coordinate the pilot testing of a package of resources to improve communication between pregnant women and their healthcare professionals around stillbirth risk and timing of birth.
- Plan, implement and coordinate a range of research and administrative tasks for the Timing of Birth research project, including ethics and governance submissions, liaising with study sites, facilitating focus groups, coordinating data collection and manuscript writing.
- Oversee and support the delivery of educational programs across the Stillbirth CRE as required including IMPROVE
- Assist with the review, development and updating of clinical content for the clinical education programs and resources (for Safer Baby Bundle and IMPROVE), including eLearning across the Stillbirth CRE.
- Provide clinical support to the chairs of the Stillbirth Evidence and Implementation Committee, a multidisciplinary working group with the CRE who meet regularly to progress the education program development and implementation.
- Build and maintain communications with key stakeholders across the Stillbirth CRE and wider network.
- Oral presentations to clinical teams as part of the implementation of the SBB.
- Participate in collaborator meetings (may require interstate travel).
- Demonstrated high level knowledge of current maternity clinical practice
- Previous research experience, with a demonstrated capacity to develop and implement effective technical and research processes and systems (including ethics and governance submissions)
- Clinical education experience
- Ability to adhere to protocols, standards and guidelines, including a thorough understanding of confidentiality, privacy and research ethics principles as required.
- Project coordination skills with the ability to support projects through to completion.
- Experience translating research into clinical practice.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem skills and expert clinical judgement.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability across the Microsoft Suite of programs with skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of qualitative research methods, including experience with the analysis of qualitative data
