About the Role:
This role will utilise your practical skills and experience in agriculture while expanding your knowledge in crop variety and plant protection. You will be working alongside our team of research agronomists and be responsible for:
- Operating agricultural machinery (tractors, plot seeders, ute booms, plot harvesters etc);
- Crop maintenance tasks paddock trials including plot preparation, seeding, maintenance and harvesting;
- Assisting with trial maintenance tasks including the safe application of fertilisers, chemicals and other associated tasks;
- Assisting with shed logistics including packing seed for trials and coordinating requirements for sowing/harvest;
- Playing a role in the maintenance/modification of machinery when necessary &
- Developing and maintaining relationships with growers and clients.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be requirements for some overnight travel and additional work hours during peak periods.
Remuneration will be based on the skills and experience you bring to Kalyx.
About You:
The role will suit a positive, approachable, and driven individual with a passion for agriculture. You will also:
- Be a competent farm machinery operator.
- Possess a current manual Driver’s License (Heavy Rigid would be a bonus).
- Understand local weeds/diseases/insect pests.
- Work safely and effectively with agricultural chemicals/be willing to get accredited.
- Be an effective communicator who enjoys working in a team.
- Be comfortable using a smart phone and computer.
- Demonstrate a sound work ethic and attention to detail.
