Job description

The Windmill Motel & Events Centre, Mackay – part of the Southern Cross Motel Group, comprises of 4-star accommodation, licensed restaurant and bar, and extensive conference and event facilities.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant/Functions Manager to join our team in a hands-on role where you will oversee the daily operations of our restaurant and function areas, ensuring the highest standards of service and customer satisfaction are maintained at all times.

This position also presents an opportunity for training and potential advancement into an Assistant Manager role within the company in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the restaurant and function areas, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting and processing of Kounta payments.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise restaurant staff to ensure they deliver exceptional service and adhere to company standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability, including menu development, pricing strategies, and cost control measures.
  • Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed to support daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, as well as licensing requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to negotiate contracts and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of all parties.
  • Plan and coordinate special events, functions, and private parties, including weddings, corporate events, and celebrations.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to promote the venue and attract new customers through various channels, including taking photos for social media.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar role, with a strong background in hospitality management.
  • Function experiences preferred but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Proficiency in computer software for inventory management, scheduling, and POS systems.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable experiences.

Requirements:

  • RSA - Must attain Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
  • Current food handling certificate.
  • Availability 6 days a week from 1.30pm-9pm, Monday - Saturday
  • Must be willing to train for Assistant Manager Position within 6 months time
  • WORKING RIGHTS - All candidates must have full working rights within Australia.
