Interested in a tree change whilst growing your hospitality career? The Goldfields Hospitality Group is seeking three Restaurant/Venue Managers for exciting opportunities to assist in opening new venues & managing an existing venue in Regional Victoria.


BABAE, Ballarat - Opening in late January, Babae is seeking a seasoned hospitality professional to join our leadership team. This is an exciting hands-on opportunity to manage the front of house operations of this fine dining restaurant in Ballarat. It is also an unique opportunity to work alongside award winning hospitality professionals.  This is a service focused role and the successful candidate will need to be highly visible throughout the venue, overseeing all aspects of front of house operations across 5 days.

GOLD MINES HOTEL, Bendigo - Ranked as one of the top 10 pubs in Regional Victoria and one of the top restaurants in Bendigo, this is an exciting opportunity to join an established business and take it to the next level. The Venue Manager will be supported by the owners and be responsible for all service and guest related aspects associated within the Hotel operations. The position oversees front of house operations across 5 days with currently Sunday/Monday off. www.goldmineshotel.com 

TERRAE, Bendigo - Opening in late February / early March, Terrae is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to work with key staff to establish this new Europerian restaurant in the heart of Bendigo.  This is a management and service focused role and the successful candidate will need to be highly visible throughout the venue, overseeing all aspects of front of house operations across 7 days. The position will manage around 15 front of house staff at the Venue.

As we expand the restaurant offerings across regional Victoria, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and customer focused industry professional to manage the front of house operations of these unique dining offerings in either Ballarat or Bendigo. This is a great opportunity to make that tree change to a large regional city, in close proximity to Melbourne. It is also an unique opportunity to work alongside award winning hospitality professionals and influence hospitality in these areas.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant experience of at least 2 years as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager 
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management and cost control.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including confidence when dealing with complaints and resolution should the need arise.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive attitude that is aligned with our company values and culture.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • A current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.

Duties to include: 

  • Maintaining high quality service standards;
  • Excellent verbal communication and time management skills;
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanour in a fast paced, high intensity environment
  • Lead, inspire and train front of house team; 
  • Management of labour costs and reporting and the ability to balance high volume periods and peak service times with the team;
  • Checking stock levels, ordering supplies, and implementing monthly stocktakes; 
  • Overseeing reservations and building relationships with regular guests;
  • Confidently offering advice about menu and wine choices - great product knowledge is essential, and a wine background is a bonus;
  • Liaise with the kitchen regarding menus, events daily run-sheets and service;

Selection Criteria

  • 2 years experience as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager within a premium dining environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, listening, interpreting and nonverbal skills and the ability to interact positively with customers and staff;
  • Demonstrated understanding of guests expectations in a fine dining restaurant,
  • Flexible attitude to work and an ability to accommodate and adapt to change,
  • Good organisational and time management skills including ability to prioritise, work independently and as part of a team and work well under pressure,
  • Positive attitude to work,
  • Possess the insight to evaluate operational performance and implement enhancements
