ATCO – Gas Division is looking for a Risk and Safety Engineer to join the Technical Compliance team based in Jandakot permanently. Reporting to the Senior Engineer Risk and Safety, the Risk and Safety Engineer's role will contribute to ATCO – Gas Divisions systems and procedures to assure regulatory compliance, adequacy of ATCO Safety Cases and safe operation of the gas distribution network.

About the role
Key role accountabilities include:
- Conduct and coordinate Formal Safety Assessments (FSAs) studies, including Hazard Identification studies, qualitative risk assessments, Safety Management Studies, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, etc., in accordance with ATCO's risk management framework, Safety Cases and legislative requirements.
- Undertake the review and revision of ATCO Safety Cases in accordance with relevant legislative requirements.
- Conduct or coordinate review and revision of the Albany LPG Storage Facility dangerous goods and emergency management requirements in accordance with the requirements of the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004.
- Conduct Technical Compliance audits in accordance with the ATCO audit framework, Safety Cases and legislative requirements.
- Support the review and revision of Safety Management System documentation.
- Support implementation of ATCOs eSafe – HSE and Risk Management System, Management of Change.
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
What we are looking for
Essential:
- University degree qualification in Engineering or Science.
- Experience in the application of risk management principles and techniques such as HAZOP Studies and various qualitative and semi-quantitative risk assessment techniques
- Experience in auditing or review of hazardous industries' safety management systems
- Strong time management, analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of delivering multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to influence and undertake negotiations.
- Excellent PC skills, including utilising various information and document management systems, including Microsoft Office business applications.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience with a Safety Case regime, where knowledge and expertise with petroleum pipelines and gas distribution Safety Cases would be advantageous.
- Development and, or review and revision of a Safety Case.
- Experience in the development and, or revision of hazardous industries' safety management systems and Safety procedures.
- Lead auditor or auditor qualification.
- Experience in the management of change processes and emergency and incident management systems.
- Proven experience and application of process safety and dangerous goods safety
