Job description

Malvern Dermatology is currently seeking an experienced  EEN/Registered Nurse for our specialist dermatology rooms in Unley.  We are excited to offer this rare opportunity for an experienced nurse with a strong interest and/or experience in cosmetics mainly in laser /IPL and Dermal Therapy to join our team.  

This position would provide a unique opportunity for either an Enrolled or Registered nurse to consolidate nursing expertise with a Dermal Therapy/cosmetic background and interest in a private specialist dermatology clinic.  It would be ideal for a person willing to work as part of a team of dermatologists and to assist them with excisions and procedures and all other aspects of patient care and to also provide exceptional treatment and care in all facets of aesthetics while maintaining a high standard of patient experience. It would be highly advantageous for you to have significant experience with IPL and laser treatments, Dermal Therapy and nurse injector experience, however injecting would not be a first priority.      

This position would be on a permanent/part time basis primarily 2 days a week and to look at extending days as needed. However, the successful candidate would need to be flexible to cover sick and annual leave as required. This is a new position, that ideally would be filled by beginning of March/April 2024.

You would work closely with and be strongly supported by our other practice nurses and cosmetic nurse. We have 4 dermatologists and 3 nurses, who are all   supported by a small and close knit team of receptionists and administration staff. 

The role would consist of but not be limited to: 

  • Assisting the dermatologists with excisions and procedures
  • Suture removals
  • Dressings and wound care
  • Biologic patient education and administration
  • Complete full patient assessments accurately and compassionately to create personalized cosmetic treatment plans
  • Ability to discuss non-injectable treatments such as IPL laser/Chemical peels
  • Perform IPL and laser treatments and have significant experience with and a keen analytical approach to achieving low risk, high quality outcomes
  • Perform chemical peels and demonstrate a sound knowledge of facial and skin anatomy and physiology

You would need to: 

  • Be confident to work autonomously and within a team
  • Complete accurate medial records and documentation
  • Display professionalism, accountability and integrity at all times 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and medical standards 
  • Be a strong team player with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Have strong computer skills and be comfortable working with technology and able to quickly learn and gain competence with a variety of medical practice software packages
  • Be highly organized with a strong work ethic and enjoy contributing toward efficient clinical workflows
