Job description

We are an Engineering Fabrication Company with a high profile in the Rail / Road / Energy Transmission Industries located in Sydney.
Job tasks and responsibilities
1. Work with Fabrication Supervisors to Assess Job Requests for Robotic Welding:
   - Collaborate closely with fabrication supervisors to evaluate incoming job requests, ensuring they are well-suited for robotic welding processes. This includes understanding the specific requirements of each job, assessing the feasibility of using robotic welding, and determining the best approach for execution.
   - Conduct site visits and inspections to better understand the job requirements and constraints.
   - Develop detailed plans and strategies for integrating robotic welding into various fabrication projects, considering factors such as job complexity, material types, and desired outcomes.
2. Plan and Allocate Robotic Welding Opportunities:
   - Strategically plan and allocate robotic welding tasks to the most appropriate machines and operators, optimizing for efficiency, quality, and resource utilization.
   - Create schedules and timelines for robotic welding tasks, ensuring that all operations are synchronized with overall project timelines.
   - Monitor the workload and capacity of robotic welding machines and operators, making adjustments as necessary to maintain productivity and meet deadlines.
3. Order Raw Materials with Mill Certification Certificates:
   - Identify and procure the necessary raw materials for each welding job, ensuring that all materials meet the required specifications and standards.
   - Obtain mill certification certificates for all raw materials, verifying their quality and compliance with industry standards.
   - Maintain an organized inventory of raw materials, tracking usage and replenishment needs to avoid delays in the welding process.
4. Supervise Cutting of Steel to Drawing Specifications:
   - Oversee the cutting of steel and other materials according to detailed drawing specifications, ensuring precision and accuracy.
   - Implement quality control measures to verify that all cuts meet the required tolerances and dimensions.
   - Coordinate with the cutting team to address any issues or discrepancies that arise during the cutting process.
5. Create Job Sheets and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs):
   - Develop comprehensive job sheets and inspection test plans (ITPs) for each order, outlining the steps and procedures to be followed to achieve the desired outcomes.
   - Ensure that all job sheets and ITPs include detailed instructions, quality standards, and checkpoints for inspection and verification.
   - Distribute job sheets and ITPs to relevant team members and oversee their implementation throughout the welding process.
6. Review Daily Work Order Progress:
   - Conduct daily reviews of work order progress across all robotic welding machines, tracking the status of ongoing jobs and identifying any bottlenecks or delays.
   - Utilize project management tools and software to monitor progress and generate reports for review and analysis.
   - Communicate with operators and supervisors to gather feedback and address any issues that may affect the progress of work orders.
7. Regularly Review Robotic Welders' Practices:
   - Perform regular reviews and audits of the robotic welders' practices, ensuring they adhere to established procedures and best practices for machine operation and welding techniques.
   - Provide training and guidance to operators to enhance their skills and improve the quality of their work.
   - Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize welding processes and increase efficiency.
8. Ensure Safety Compliance and Competence:
   - Ensure that all robotic welders are fully compliant with safety qualifications and competence standards, conducting regular assessments and training sessions.
   - Develop and enforce safety protocols and guidelines for robotic welding operations, minimizing the risk of accidents and injuries.
   - Maintain accurate records of safety certifications and training for all operators, ensuring they remain up-to-date.
9. Conduct Weekly Reviews with Fabrication Supervisors:
   - Hold weekly review meetings with fabrication supervisors to discuss the progress of ongoing work, identify any challenges, and adjust plans as necessary to stay on track.
   - Collaborate on problem-solving and decision-making to ensure work proceeds according to the agreed plan.
   - Share feedback and insights from these meetings with the broader team to foster continuous improvement and alignment.
10. Maintain Robotic Welding Machines:
    - Ensure that all robotic welding machines are kept in a compliant and operational status through regular maintenance and servicing.
    - Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of the equipment.
    - Coordinate with maintenance teams and external service providers to address any technical issues or repairs promptly.
11. Meet Weekly with Managing Director:
    - Participate in weekly meetings with the Managing Director to discuss current performance, review completed work, and plan future welding opportunities.
    - Provide detailed reports and updates on the status of ongoing projects, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
    - Collaborate on strategic planning and decision-making to align welding operations with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
Skills required:
1. Hold an engineering degree in Mechatronics from a recognized University
2. Have completed a Certificate IV in Project Management
3. Have at least 5 years relevant experience preferably in Robotic Welding
4. Hold a Forklift ticket
5. OHS Construction Induction Card
The Applicant will need to be competent in CNC Machines and Programmed Maintenance with a good knowledge of AUTOCAD / IRONCAD/SOLD WORKS software. PLC Programming in SIEMENS / OMRON and SCADA would be an experience required for the position.
