An established resort, Heron Island accommodates up to nearly 300 guests with the primary draw card being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises.
The Position:
This is a full-time ongoing position.
The Roofer is responsible for carrying out efficient and cost-effective roofing installations, maintenance, and minor new works/projects across the Resort and the Staff Village.
Key responsibilities:
- Understanding Roofing tasks/projects within the area of expertise and in alignment with statutory legal obligations
- Undertaking trace services, such as constructing and fitting new roofs for both guest and staff rooms
- Procuring materials for specific work orders/projects (e.g. orders, purchases and requisitions) to ensure the availability of materials required to complete work assignments.
- Coordination work activities with broader resort activities and other trades
- Responding to emergencies and/or identifying potentially hazardous conditions to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Preparation of written documents such as estimates, drawings and requisitions
To be considered for this role:
- Trade qualification Certificate 3 – Roofing with a minimum of 3 years' experience
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge relating to installations and maintenance, as it relates to roofing in single and two-story buildings, including.
- Minor construction works.
- Building maintenance
- Major equipment installations
- Refurbishment projects
- Interpret Uniform Building Code and technical information e.g. blueprints, drawings
- Demonstrate and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation to ensure safe work practices
- Possess a current, unrestricted Queensland driver’s licence
- Positive attitude and excellent work ethic
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good communication, time management and organisational skills
