Inclusive Communities is driven by our vision for communities to be inclusive and connected, that all are enabled to participate in the cultural, social and economic life of the City of Brisbane.
Inclusive Communities, Connected Communities Branch, Lifestyle and Community Services Division provides information, advice, funding, advocacy and services for residents, organisations and Council.
The Inclusive Communities family includes the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team, Access and Inclusion, Community Development, Active and Healthy, Immunisation, Safe Communities, Youth Development and Social Inclusion Strategy. We play a lead role in the delivery of Council’s Inclusive Brisbane Plan and our Reconciliation Action Plan.
The Role
As the Safe Communities Team Leader, you will lead a team to support some of the most vulnerable residents in the City. Safe Communities support responses for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness; Public Space Liaison Officers, Homeless Connect, Pathways out of Homelessness Grant, Hoarding and Squalor reduction and Community Safety. As the Team Leader, you will ensure the strategic development, and operationalisation of Council’s responses in this key area of city life.
You will be responsive and discerning in your approach to provide timely and succinct information to a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to influence positive outcomes.
Your natural ability to engage audiences with passion and purpose will initiate and empower strong working relationships with stakeholders and partners in an often challenging and complex environment, driving collaboration to collectively achieve program objectives
To be successful you will have:
a passion for leading, managing and developing people
substantial project and program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation skills developed within the community safety and inclusivity setting
a strong ability to collaborate and influence to collectively achieve strategic outcomes, in line with budget and timelines
well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to be able to liaise, consult and present to a wide group of stakeholders including residents, customers, and community groups
background in housing, community safety, community development or social work advantageous.
