Safety and Wellbeing Trainee

Sutherland Shire Council are currently on the lookout for a Safety and Wellbeing Trainee who is keen to work with an organisation that values growth, learning and development. Things We’ll Trust You With:

  • Providing support to the Safety and Wellbeing team by assisting in the day-to-day operations of the team.
  • Supporting and facilitating a safe and healthy workforce alongside a team of skilled safety professionals.
  • Supporting our safety culture through maintaining clear communication and an up-to-date cutting-edge Work Health and Safety Management System

Things You’ll Do:

  • Learn from experienced Safety Business Partners to build effective relationships with regulators and industry.
  • Develop skills and knowledge to complete risk assessments and compliance checklists in the field.
  • Complete on the job training, whilst gaining your Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • Support the implementation of Council's WHS strategies, initiatives, policies and procedures.

The Fine Print:

  • Interview date: Interviews will be facilitated week commencing the 12th of February
  • Package:  $46,288 gross p.a. plus 11% superannuation
  • Study: Will be done online through TAFE to complete Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety which will take up to 24 months.
  • Hours of work: Temporary full time position working 35 hours per week Monday-Friday, with an option of a 19-day month for maximum period of 24 months whilst completing a Cert IV in Work Health and Safety (via TAFE online Digital)

**To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication, you will be required to produce evidence as part of the application process. Successful applicants are subject to ID checks, Reference checks, Qualification checks, and Work Rights verification.
