Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Safety Assurance & Systems Coordinatorto join the NRMA’s Safety team.  Reporting to the Manager of Safety Assurance & Systems, your key focus is on enhancing Safety Assurance, system effectiveness, and cultivating a culture of safety compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, such as WHS legislation, National and State-based Workers Compensation Regulations, and adherence to ISO 45001 safety systems.  You will be required to work closely with various leaders and stakeholders across the NRMA group of businesses.

This is a 12 month maximum term contract role with hybrid work arrangements available from our Sydney CBD and/or Sydney Olympic Park offices and from home, as required and agreed.   Interstate travel is required for this position (approximately every 2 months, 2-3 days) to visit our SIXT Car Rental and NRMA Parks & Resorts sites.

In this role, you will be specifically responsible for:

Safety Assurance

Support and maintain a comprehensive Safety Assurance program to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across all NRMA operations. This includes:

  • Support and conduct the planned ISO 45001 certification activities across the NRMA group. Group Safety Management System Audits are scheduled on a 2 year cycle
  • Support and maintain Group Assurance Program
  • Assess effectiveness of technical risks across the business (for example Food Safety, Heavy Vehicles and Water Quality Management)
  • Conduct technical audits such as Heavy Vehicle Management
  • Conduct safety assessments, and analyse risk trends
  • Recommend and implement safety improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective safety policies and procedures are in place
  • Review due diligence assurance
  • Support Businesses Level 1 Assurance program

Systems Integration

Drive the integration of safety measures and systems into NRMA's operations, including regularly review and update safety systems and processes to meet evolving standards.

Compliance and Regulation

Stay up-to-date with relevant safety regulations and standards and ensure NRMA's compliance including:

  • Monitor and evaluate safety performance against industry benchmarks and legal requirements.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of safety legislation and industry best practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to facilitate safety-related initiatives and partnerships.

Performance Metrics

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance, effectiveness of safety systems, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Safety Management, Engineering, Business) is preferred.
  • Lead Auditor qualification
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Australia (National and State) safety legislations, ISO 45001 and Health and Safety management systems and standards
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of operational safety risk management, assurance frameworks and project management
  • Strong influencing skills and change management experience
  • Superior ability to think strategically, innovatively and laterally to generate new ideas
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and change focus if business imperatives change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills which includes presentations, communication programmes, report writing and the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills
  • A strong commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks
  • Current Australian driver’s license.
