The opportunity
ADB Safegate Australia is looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our team based at RAAF Base Pearce in Bullsbrook, WA, to help manage workplace and safety culture. This unique opportunity will provide you with a new perspective and help you gain valuable skills in a niche area of the electrical and aviation industry.
Although the role will be based at RAAF Base Pearce, ADB Safegate Australia has active projects across Australia and New Zealand and the role will be required to work with other members of the safety department around the ANZ region to efficiently manage the safety requirements of the organisation’s airfield construction projects.
Our western region is inclusive of Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory, and applicants should consider the possibility of short-term travel in their future with us, if and when required. Flights, accommodation, vehicles, and fuel are all provided, as well as a daily allowance if you are required to work on one of our many airfield sites across the ANZ region.
Your new role
We would love to hear from you if you have airfield lighting experience, however this is not mandatory. For those who have not worked on an airfield before, our team is ready to provide training on the specific project procedures and installation methods.
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to;
- Provide organisation health and safety specialist advice, technical and management support
- Lead the maintenance and improvement of work, health and safety systems and strategies
- Develop policies to promote work health and safety (WHS) awareness and liaise directly with the Head Contractors Safety Team.
- Proactively monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities
- Ensure the projects and company is meeting the requirements of its safety accreditations including AS/ANS 4801, ISO 450001 and FSC accreditation scheme
- Undertake risk assessments of complex tasks collaboratively with project delivery teams
- Conduct site inductions and maintain accurate records
- Actively participate in accident investigation procedures
- Conduct project WHS Performance reviews and create/manage corrective actions
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
You will bring
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role with a national focus
- Tertiary studies in relation to Work, Health and Safety (WHS) or Certificate IV in WHS
- Construction Experience with electrical installation would be an advantage
- Experience in WHS Management Systems – prefer working experience in LUCIDITY but not essential
- Experience in ISO standards is a plus
- Great team player and ability to operate autonomously
- Committed to meeting deadlines
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work
