The Company

Join this established and thriving building services company that partners with clients across the Government, Aged Care/Retirement Living, Healthcare and Education sectors to provide building refurbishment and maintenance services to existing properties. You'll love working with this down-to-earth, friendly team with a very respectful and diverse management style. With parking on-site, the office is close to Kensington Village and all the shops and cafes this great area has to offer. While there’s easy access to public transport etc, you will be afforded the use of a company car for site visits etc.
  
The Role
  
The Safety Manager is the go-to person and knowledge pool for all things health and safety related. You’ll be responsible for leading, implementing and managing health, safety, quality and environmental programs across multiple sites, driving a strong safety culture across the whole business. Working closely with the Risk Strategy and HR Operations teams, you’ll spend half your time in the office, with the other half spent visiting sites and liaising with Site Managers and staff, providing ongoing training, ensuring compliance, reporting, and investigating of incidents etc. While your responsibilities may vary from time to time, your day-to-day will include:

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, updating and implementing the HSEQ framework, policies and procedures
  • Ensuring all staff are familiar with HSEQ information and procedures
  • Providing regular compliance training to new starters, Site Managers and staff
  • Providing expertise, governance and advisory services related to HSEQ
  • Creating and maintaining HSEQ registers and templates
  • Completing site inspections to ensure HSEQ practices are being completed and documented correctly
  • Overseeing the use and maintenance of the HSEQ software platform ‘WORX’
  • Assisting the HR & Operations team with ISO Certification
  • Analysing incident reports and evaluating injury case studies based on available facts
  • Reporting on and investigating accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions
  • Chairing the monthly HSEQ Working Group
  • Assisting with the production of Safety Wrap Newsletters and Safety Alerts
Skills and Experience
  
This is an integral, hands-on role where you’ll be expected to work collaboratively with stakeholders, building strong and effective relationships to drive change and ensure high safety standards. We’re looking for someone with relevant qualifications and experience in OH&S, preferably within the Building & Construction industry, however this could also be within a project environment, such as at an aged care facility or hospital etc. We’re interested to speak to people with all levels of experience providing you have in-depth knowledge of all relevant Health & Safety and environmental legislation, along with experience within an ISO accredited environment.
