About the role
As a Safety, Systems & Assurance Engineer, you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager, and you will be a part of the Project Delivery team.
This position is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to the Project Managers and engineering consultants across a range of engineering and design issues throughout development life cycle of the new Intermodal Terminal Precincts.
Whilst we would like this role to be based in Sydney, we will consider candidates based in Melbourne.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to
- Prepare, review or contribute as appropriate to the development of systems engineering documentations including but not limited to:
- Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP), and
- BRS (Business Requirement Specifications) to ensure program and project compliance with engineering standards, specifications and legislative requirements.
- Assist in the identification of issues requiring resolution which may impact on individual projects or integration with the broader interfacing transport networks in Australia.
- Undertake systems engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle as required and support and monitor the system engineering processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and industry practices.
- Assist in the coordination and monitoring of systems assurance activities performed by the relevant project delivery organisations.
- Participate in and assist with the risk assessment activities for railway operations to ensure that potential hazards are identified, adequately assessed, and mitigated.
- Support the project and tender teams in effectively implementing risk management elements, recommending effective risk control measures, and evaluating the initial and residual risk involved.
- Review and comment on systems assurance submissions during the delivery phase of the project.
- Ensure safety requirements have been included in designs and communicated to relevant parties.
- Review key project processes, documentation, and assurance evidence to ensure alignment with verification and validation strategy across the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all appropriate measures and feedback is in place to support, monitor and review all aspects of the design safety assurance review process.
- Manage and monitor the systems assurance program on projects and tenders.
- Oversee the Human factors development and integration.
About you
- A minimum of 4+ years SESA experience, primarily focused on Safety engineering.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in systems engineering and assurance in a large, complex organisation.
- Previous exposure to working on rail infrastructure projects is essential.
- Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to produce safety analyses and documentation (such as PHA, SHA, IHA, OSHA, FTA, QRA, Safety Case).
