Voted the #1 city hotel in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific in 2022 by Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards, The Langham, Melbourne is seeking an experienced Sales Executive to join our high performing team.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Sales, this position is an integral part of our sales team and a rare opportunity to take your career to the next level at Melbourne’s premier luxury hotel. 

Contributing to the overall success of the hotel, the position involves a mix of new business development and account management for both rooms and catering segments, whilst promoting all hotel services including Melba Restaurant, Aria Bar & Lounge and Chuan Spa. 

The successful candidate for this role will have demonstrated success in sourcing new business whilst effectively nurturing relationships, preferably in a similar position in service, events or hospitality.   

What you would be doing

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Actively and strategically grow corporate revenue opportunities from new prospect accounts and within an established and defined client portfolio.  
  • Source new MICE group business supporting rooms, catering and total hotel revenue.  
  • Negotiate and manage client RFP and contracting processes for the corporate segment.
  • Proactively engage TMC’s and grow new account pipeline opportunity.  
  • Leverage BI tools and data to strategically grow revenue in rooms and catering segments. 
  • Coordinate and drive sales activities including client meetings, site inspections, attendance at industry functions and tradeshows. 
  • Prepare weekly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
  • Work collaboratively with Global Sales Offices on client development activity. 
  • Monitor the market and share market intelligence for the corporate segment. 

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Your ability to influence and build rapport with key decision makers and business influencers are outstanding attributes you will bring to this role. 
  • You thrive on accountability, having been able to demonstrate an ability to meet sales targets, and have strong knowledge of your market space with your finger on ‘the pulse’ of industry trends and subsequent initiatives.
  • Strong budgeting skills complement your assertive, creative yet resilient personality and ability to self-manage and solve problems in a customer focused environment. Experience with applications such as Delphi and Opera would be an advantage.
  • Flexible to be able to travel as required, as well as some afterhours work if required.
