This position is responsible for managing and leading a team of technical sales, application engineer and technical support staff. The main focus is driving sales, managing existing major key accounts and new business development. The person best suited to the role is an experienced Sales Manager with at least 5 years of proven, successful sales management experience.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Achieve state sales targets, margins & profit for the region.
- Management of major key accounts, including consultants and government departments.
- Development of the regional sales strategy, which includes product mix and pricing.
- Development of regional strategic business plans, budgets and quotes.
- Monitoring and reporting on total operating costs for the state.
- Control distribution of products and services within the state to ensure maximum profitability.
- Identify new market opportunities and liaise with National Sales Manager, National Marketing Manager and senior management team.
- Participate in new product launches, promotions and product and applications training.
- Promote positive relations with existing customers and maintain contact with customers and major accounts.
- Promote sales growth within the business and drive new account acquisitions.
- Actively pursue new business accounts in all product groups.
- Appraise customer’s future requirements and supply written forecasts for product supply to ensure continual delivery as required without exceeding agreed company stock holding.
- Motivate the sales team and measure performance against objectives.
- Recruit necessary sales staff and oversee their training & development.
- Performance counsel staff, as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Electrical or electronics engineering degree or trade qualified.
- Five to ten years’ sales management experience.
- Proven successful record of developing new business.
- A background in technical sales and new business development.
- Commercially astute with strong business acumen.
- A high level of written & oral communication, negotiation and selling skills.
- Results/Achievement orientation, Teamwork and co-operation.
- Interpersonal understanding, e.g. the ability to relate well to all types of people.
- Relationship building with customers, Sales presentation, Professional approach.
