About the Opportunity
Council is seeking a Saleyards Supervisor to providing a high level of support to the Saleyards Coordinator in the development and maintenance of the Dalby Saleyards.
This position is based in Dalby.
Reporting to the Saleyards Coordinator, you will:
- Assisting the Saleyards Coordinator in planning and organising saleyards development and resources.
- Assisting with management of sale day processes, staff and contractors to ensure accurate, timely and safe movement, processing and record-keeping of cattle.
- Providing onsite supervision and direction of Saleyards staff and contactors and contribute positively to work undertaken by the parties.
- Liaising with the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to ensure Saleyards infrastructure assets are maintained;
- Supervising and assisting in the maintenance of the saleyards infrastructure assets, including cleaning of yards and troughs;
- Supervising and directing general labouring activities as required;
About yourself
The successful applicant will have:
- Knowledge and understanding of stock handling and animal welfare;
- Understanding of computerised weighing operations and reporting;
- Knowledge and understanding of construction and maintenance techniques for planning purposes;
- Experience in the operation of plant;
- Ability to work independently or within a team, prioritising and delegating workloads to team members;
- Good oral, written communication and numeracy skills;
- Good problem-solving ability (root cause identification; process) with the ability to meet deadlines;
