An exciting new opportunity for a Level 3 Paediatric Dietitian to utilise research skills to develop the nutritional service for Inflammatory bowel disease at The Children's Hospital at Westmead

What you'll be doing
Experience in paediatric dietetics, and in paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease is desirable. The role is temporarily funded and therefore the establishment of sustainable pathways is a critical focus. The successful candidate will be expected to utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research. Of particular importance will be the development, monitoring and evaluating of outcome measures for the service. These will be used to build a case for ongoing funding for this post. The candidate will be expected to work autonomously within professional practice guidelines as well as adhering to an overall framework of the policies and procedures of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The clinical load of this level 3 dietitian will be focussed on IBD within Gastroenterology Medicine. The level 3 dietitian however will be expected to provide cover across the gastroenterology service in both the inpatient and outpatient setting at times of reduced staffing, as directed by the Manager of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department in collaboration with the Gastroenterology lead consultant.
The level 3 dietitian provides consultation in their specialty of gastroenterology to other health professionals across the area, geographic region or clinical network both within and beyond the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.
The Nutrition and Dietetic Department aims to work in partnership to advocate for optimized nutrition for children through evidence based clinical care, education, research and leadership. We specialize in addressing the unique nutritional needs of children from neonates to adolescents, across a range of clinical domains. Our primary aim is to optimize the growth and nutritional status of all children with chronic and complex medical conditions, including IBD.
- Eligible for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in a range of clinical areas, specifically Gastroenterology
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence
- Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff, including in the establishment of an MDT Model of care considering patient reported outcome and experience measures.
