Form of workAn exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Woodwork Teacher to join a terrific Catholic Secondary school nestled in the heart of Altona North. In this role, you will have the privilege of providing comprehensive instruction in Woodwork units tailored to students across diverse levels, spanning from introductory to advanced skill levels. This full-time 12-month contract not only offers the chance to impart practical woodworking skills but also provides a platform to foster creativity, craftsmanship, and a passion for craftsmanship among students.
Key Duties
- Design and develop a comprehensive woodwork curriculum aligned with educational standards and objectives.
- Plan engaging and effective lessons that cater to students' skill levels and promote hands-on learning in the woodwork shop.
- Provide clear and thorough instruction on woodworking techniques, tools, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate proper and safe use of woodworking tools and machinery.
- Facilitate the development of woodworking skills, including measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing projects.
- Establish and maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, managing student behaviour
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on industry trends, teaching methodologies, and safety standards.
Skills & Experience:
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Hold a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Experience in Secondary Woodwork teaching
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years Highly developed interpersonal skills
- An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system
