About the role
The Department of Parliamentary Services is recruiting a Security Officer to provide exceptional guarding services at the iconic Parliament House.
As a Security Officer you will join a skilled team of security professionals. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing security screening, inspection, identification and reporting to ensure the safe and smooth operation of all security checkpoints at Parliament House;
- Providing a warm welcome and outstanding customer service to all staff, visitors and guests.

Typically, you will work a 7 hour and 36 minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. The nature of this role may require you to work a 7 hour and 36 minute shift between the hours of 6:30am and 10:00pm.
Salary
This role is classified at PoV2.1 $56,834 - $64,911 plus 11% superannuation.
About you

You will have prior security experience and working knowledge of security systems and screening equipment.
You will have the skills to:
- Assist staff, visitors, and guests to make sure they have a positive experience

- Work well in a team, as well as independently
- Be punctual and organised to keep things running smoothly
- Learn, adapt and be flexible to changes in the workplace

Required qualifications
To be considered, you must have a valid Private Security Individual Licence and Certificate II in Security Operations.
It's a bonus if you:
- have a Crowd Control Licence
- have a Certificate III in Security Operations
- have 2+ years' experience in a similar role
- speak a second language
