Due to the substantial growth of our business with numerous projects in the pipeline, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team based in Sydney.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include:
- With the support of the Head of Finance, coordinate the preparation of monthly financial and management reports, including profit & loss statement, balance sheet, bank reconciliations and financial analysis, in a timely manner and ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
- Responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Process payroll and attend to other payroll related statutory obligations i.e. payroll tax, superannuation, workers compensation, etc
- Responsible for the lodgement of BAS, PAYGW and FBT
- With the support of the Head of Finance, coordinate yearly budgeting, and forecasting, cashflow projections and providing commentary on variances.
- Liaise with external advisory/auditors.
- Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
- Assist in developing best practice financial accounting and control procedures, and continually review the process and procedures to maximise impact and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain fixed asset registers.
- Monitor business results and provide clear and informed analysis to meet group and property requirements.
- Support decision making, making recommendations for potential revenue and profit enhancements.
- Manage, maintain, protect, and develop information systems.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial records.
- Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets.
- Facilitate liaison between the finance team & the group’s managers regarding performance against budget
- Ensure support, training and guidance is provided to managers at both corporate office as well as property-based locations
- Work collaboratively with other departments and provide support with reporting, data and analysis
- Assist the Head of Finance with projects across the organisation
- Assist the Finance team in general accounting duties and ad hoc tasks
Your skills and experience:
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, is self-motivated, and is excited to grow their career with us. To be a successful candidate, we are looking for the below experience:
- Degree in Accounting.
- CA/CPA qualified
- An accountant with relevant financial accounting and payroll processing experience (4+ years)
- Excellent numerical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent time management
- Team player and ability to work with, and contribute to a team working environment
- Worked in a multi-entity organisation within a small business environment
- Experience within the property, real estate, or hotel industry would be beneficial
- IT skills: Advanced skills in Excel and experience with MYOB Advanced is favourable.
