We currently have an exciting opportunity for 2 x Senior Automation (Control Systems) Engineers at our Perth Office CBD, on a Permanent Full-time basis.


About this role

As the Senior Automation (Control Systems) Engineer, you will be accountable for developing as well as applying high level subject matter expertise and specialist knowledge, engineering experience, best practice and skills in delivering competitive designs, settings, FAT testing, estimating, project / contract management, consulting products and services associated with Automation systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Applying engineering knowledge and skills to provide end to end Automation services for the Western Power network
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of local and remote monitoring and control schemes for a wide range of Transmission and Distribution equipment
  • Deliver quality designs associated with power system Automation and SCADA
  • Configuration of Control Systems including industrial networks, RTU, PLCs and HMIs
  • Carry out on site application engineering and system testing
  • Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard operational system against potential threats 


About you 

We’re seeking someone from within our workforce with experience and attributes that include:

  • Degree in electrical or electronic engineering recognised by Engineers Australia as satisfying the academic requirements for appointment as a professional engineer
  • Eligibility for corporate membership of Engineers Australia
  • Sound knowledge of data management systems, Automation principals and SCADA protocols
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Automation installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of Primary and Secondary equipment used in Transmission and Distribution Substations including power systems and protection schemes
  • Extensive working knowledge and understanding of SCADA system designs, RTU, PLC configurations, Ethernet switch, router configurations and database systems.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of engineering standards, compliance & regulations, Technical Rules and procedures applicable to secondary systems
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of current technological developments in the field of automation.
  • In-dept knowledge of networking protocols, security principals, industry best practices network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques 
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
