Role Overview:
As a Senior Automation Test Analyst within this Federal Government Department, you will play a key role in developing and deploying an automated testing suite. This suite will underpin both functional and system testing, forming the foundation of our testing framework.
Working in an agile and iterative environment, you will conduct specialized technical research and analysis. You will identify automation opportunities within software processes, develop scripts for testing across various phases, and manage test data, defects, and technical troubleshooting.
Effective communication is crucial as you will convey information across diverse media, tailored to various departmental audiences. Your ability to adapt to the agency’s methodologies, demonstrate flexibility, and work collaboratively will be critical to your success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, execute, and review test requirements and scripts in collaboration with design, build, and business teams.
- Perform script analysis, estimate tests, track progress, and occasionally manage resources to meet project deliverables.
- Create and report high-quality test artifacts, including matrices, cases, defects, and complex test data, ensuring compliance with standards and guidelines.
- Identify defects, gather information for defect entries, and coordinate resources for issue investigation.
- Contribute to and review testing artifacts such as strategies, plans, risk assessments, test specifications, and status reports.
- Schedule test execution and maintain farm machines.
- Develop, document, monitor, and improve testing processes and procedures, promoting best practices.
- Design, build, and maintain test automation suites using appropriate tools.
- Assist in maintaining the Test Automation Framework.
- Collaborate with manual testers, developers, and business analysts to optimize test planning for automated testing.
- Provide accurate and representative feedback on test artifacts and monitor defect queues.
- Coach, mentor, and provide on-the-job training to automation resources and manual testers.
- Enhance test automation capabilities to improve delivery efficiencies.
- Participate in or facilitate meetings for internal testing operations and external workshops.
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance planning to align with agency strategic objectives.
To be successful, you will have:
- Over 6 years of experience as a Senior Automation Test Analyst
- ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst certification or equivalent
- Proficiency in working within CI/CD environment and navigating Test Automation Pipelines using YAML
- Expertise in test automation tools and languages (e.g., Selenium, C#, Rest Assured, SoapUI, JavaScript, TestNG, Postman)
- Proficiency in mobile test automation and API automation
- Expertise in programming/scripting C#
- Knowledge of SpecFlow or similar BDD
- Solid SQL skills
- Postman scripting with JSON object handling
- Understanding of DevOps, GIT, and build/release pipelines
- The ability to set direction for test automation and implement the enterprise Automation Test strategy.
- A track record of being delivery-focused and successfully completing projects.
- Proficiency in working with various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to tailor communication to respective audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within agile teams and contribute positively as a team player.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of independently resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality with an enterprise-wide vision.
